From the Excelsior to the Industry — The Next Wave of San Francisco Sound

Hometown:

San Francisco, Ca

Genre:

Hip Hop / R&B

San Francisco has always been a cauldron for culture — a place where movements start before the world catches on. From the psychedelic 60s to the Hyphy era, the City has never stopped producing energy that breaks barriers. Now, a new generation from neighborhoods like the Excelsior District (52) is carrying that same torch — blending grit, authenticity, and raw ambition into the next phase of Bay Area rap. Among them stands DB Still Trippin, a rising voice from the heart of the city, making noise with purpose.

“I’m from San Francisco, Excelsior District 52 to be exact,” DB says. His connection to music runs deep — not just in passion, but in bloodline. “My cousins, uncles, and my dad all rap. My dad an OG older head, so I grew up hearing the music he played, and I just took a liking to it. I felt like I could do this forreal if I tried.”

That family energy became his foundation — pushing him from being a listener to becoming an artist.

When he talks about what keeps him motivated, his answer hits with humility and hunger: “My family, my brothers, the music I make. Every time I hear progress, it makes me want to keep going. I can’t give up — people depending on me out here.”

Carrying the City’s Legacy

San Francisco has always been known for its unfiltered authenticity — a place where artists don’t fake the struggle, they live it and flip it into sound. DB embodies that same spirit.

“I push myself to get better. I hear my growth and it makes me want to keep striving,” he says. “I’ma make some shake that everyone gone fw one day and get my family and brothers out the mud trenches.”

That mindset reflects a city that’s built on resilience — where progress is the prize and legacy is the goal.

What’s Next for DB Still Trippin

DB’s been locked in with his crew, the BDGz, and building momentum through collaboration. “Right now I got Still Trippin Out about to drop, and a lot more projects coming,” he explains.

He’s also readying new visuals, including ‘Mask Up K’, featuring his BDGz family and a feature from Cleveland Real. “Be on the lookout for music from OTs Joe Joe and my brother Louie V Ski too,” he adds — showing that he’s not just rising solo, but lifting his circle as he climbs.

A New Wave for The Bay

DB Still Trippin represents a new face of the city — one that balances old-school roots with new-school hunger. His music reflects both the pain and pride of coming from the trenches, but it’s his mindset that sets him apart: a relentless drive to turn pressure into progress.

As the Bay Area continues to evolve, DB is proving that San Francisco’s story is far from over — it’s just getting remixed for a new generation.
